This aptly titled opening episode for the sixth season, follows the "Fight the Future" movie. Mulder faces an FBI review board as they seek answers as to whether or not the X-Files should re-open. Without proof, the panel determines his report of man-aided alien global domination, and the agents Antarctic adventure "virtually unintelligible." The proof-truth is out there, in a hideous form with deadly sharp claws. An obtuse assist from Skinner sets them on the trial, but they're not alone: The CSM is also seeking the entity, and has the upper hand after drafting some help.
When Mulder insists on ditching "scut work" for a ready-made X-File he ends up being taken as a hostage by a carjacker whose wife has mysteriously died. As the carjacker describes it, "she just popped, It's as if a tiny bomb went off in her ear."
Mulder is shipwrecked in the Bermuda Triangle, and is subsequently rescued by a long-lost British luxury liner - where the date is 1939!!, atleast so it seems. Mulder believes the ship has entered a time warp into 1998. This episode, written in homage to the 'Wizard of Oz' takes Mulder into a strange world where familiar faces abound, the passengerss and crew believe Mulder is with the Nazi's who had previously taken over the vessel. Some excellent filming techniques makes this episode one to stand out. After Mulder plants a well aimed kiss on Scully she in turn plants a well aimed right hook to Mulder's head. Rescued and recovering in hospital Mulder confesses his love to Scully who gives him an eye-rolling "Oh Brother"! Mulder still has his painful jaw to prove that it wasn't all a dream!
After a close encounter, Mulder enters his Mecca - the famed Area 51 - in this engrossing 2 part episode that finds him a changed man, literally! On a highway near the "secret" facility, for a meeting with a man who claims to work there, the agents are stopped by a military force led by an authorized Area official, they're then ordered to depart. After a craft flies low over head, Mulder suddenly finds himself in the shoes, clothes, and the body of the official, with accompanying soldiers who are looking to him for their orders!
Scully begins to suspect that her partner's strange behavior is more than it appears to be, while Mulder fights to return his life to normal before it's too late. Still trapped inside Man-In-Black Morris' body, Mulder manages to evade the brig when his fellow MIB cohorts discover that the flight data recorder Mulder tried to give Scully was a fake. They come to the conclusion that Mulder was trying to run a scam on the FBI. Mulder plays along and the MIBs are relieved, but still want the original flight data recorder back. Mulder waffles, but tells them he has it and that he'll return it.
Meanwhile, Scully is put on suspension and Morris (in Mulder's body) tries to ease her pain by inviting her to his apartment for a home-cooked meal. Suspicious at first, she agrees. But when she gets there, she finds the apartment is immaculate and there is an actual bedroom she never knew existed. Things are just a bit too weird. She confronts Morris about the switch and he comes clean, further explaining that he has no idea how to switch back.
A reluctant Morris accompanies Scully as she reveals to Mulder that there may not be a way to reverse this process. But somehow, one of the MIBs discover that the time warp is snapping back, reversing time in the process. He positions Mulder and Morris in the right time at the right place and their personalities are returned to the rightful bodies. Their memories of the past few days are rewound as well and no one remembers a thing. This perplexes Mulder when returns home to find a spotless apartment.
Mulder and Scully travel to a Blue Ridge town with an interesting set of new borns - all seemingly fathered by a mysterious demon. When Mulder and Scully crash the high school's reunion dance while continuing their investigation, they find a lovelorn weatherman who harbors an unrequited love, is it he who controls the weather??
Mulder does a good job of convincing Scully to put aside her Christmas preparations so that they can stake out a reputedly haunted house. There they discover an odd pair of inhabitants. Mulder tells Scully about the three double murders in the house over the past 80 years, the first a lover's suicide pact on a Christmas Eve, the reluctant Scully joins him inside the fog-shrouded structure.
A flash of lightning, a slammed door and a rattled chain later, they indeed find a dead couple followed by meetings with a couple of real live wires. The couple proceed to offer analyses of the agents' motivation for their holiday activity.
An envious Mulder looks on from afar as Scully is partnered with another agent to investigate a free-lance photographer, whose uncanny ability enables him to know when someone is about to die. Suspicion arises that he might be the person murdering those who die, in order to take the pictures. Scully, fascinated and ever sceptical, does not believe any one could have this ability, inadvertantly places herself in jeopardy while attempting to understand this man's ability. As he explains his inability to die, Scully's new partner bursts into the room and shoots the photographer, but, the bullet goes right through him and into Scully! With his last breath the photographer persuades her to close her eyes, not to look in the face of death, he then does the one thing he had been afraid to do, look into the face of death.
Felled during a boxing workout, Skinner is taken to the hospital where he seems to be Ok - until he receives a phone call telling him he has only 24 hours to live. The agents, striving to find the cause of his affliction, meet both Senator Matheson and Krychek along the way, and find out that Krychek holds Skinner's life, and the treatment that will save him (Skinner) in his hands.

Diana Fowley takes Mulder and Scully to a decontamination facility and orders them to shower, telling them that Cassandra Spender has the virus. Scully tries to convince Mulder that Fowley is evil, but he doesn't agree. Later while at the hospital Mulder finds Marita Covarrubias, who has also seems to have been experimented upon, Mulder knows he can do nothing for her.
Scully goes to the The Lone Gunmen telling them of her suspicions of Fowley and there she learns more bad things about her. Spender goes back to the X-Files office where he proceeds to pack his things, the CSM shows up and loathing his son for not being the man he wished him to be, shoots him.
Mulder and Scully pose as a married couple, (Rob and Laura Petrie, pronounced Peetrie, (unlike the pronounciation from the Dick Van Dyke Show), the names chosen by Mulder. The pair realize that their neighbors are going strangely overboard as far as rules and regulations for the subdivision!!
The episode takes place in Goodland, Florida as Hurricane Leroy attacks the coastline. Arthur Dales listens to a dispatch about a family, the Shipleys who have disappeared, their house is boarded and their car is in the driveway! Scully reluctantly follows Mulder, they discover that the house was boarded up from the inside, then, how did they get out? Or did they??
The episode opens on Monday as Mulder awakens late, in a large puddle of water, his water-bed had sprung a leak, his radio, watch, and his cell phone all inundated with water. In order to pay his landlord for any incurred damages he misses a meeting so that he could go to his bank to make a deposit, so the cheque for damages will not bounce. A stranger, Pam, tries to warn Mulder not to enter the bank where a mad-man is wearing a bomb, unheeding he enters the bank and it blows up! Then Monday starts again, things happen the same way again, and again, until Mulder finally takes heed of Pam's words. She enters the bank where she saves all the hostages, but loses her own life.
A rare breed of Asian dog, a Wan Sheng Dol, is shipped to North America, where it breaks out of it's shipping crate and proceeds to kill people. It's owner, Detweiler, becomes angry at those who wish to find and shoot it. The agents meet a woman, Karen Burquist, who owns a dog kennel, claiming she is also a dog expert. Scully becomes suspicious of Burquist especially when she sees that she has an "I want to believe" poster just like Mulder's.
The storyline involves Pinker Rawls, survivor of a tornado who now seems to be made of electricity, he can also pass through walls, but can't handle rubber or glass. He goes after his ex-girlfriend June, who took off with the loot from a robbery that he had committed. With his finger he writes on the wall "I want what is mine"!!!!
One of the neighbors in Mulder's apartment building is writing his life story with horrific results. His story evolves around his obsession with Scully, she is flattered, frightened, but curious, she ventures into his world, with near deadly consequences. One of his written creations, a near-lookalike of the writer comes to life and kills with "psychic surgery" by removing the victims hearts.
While visiting his friend, ex-FBI agent Arthur Dales (Darren McGavin), Mulder discovers pictures of Dales from the 1940's with members of the old Negro baseball leagues. As we flashback to over a half century ago, we see the story unfold of a young Dales sent to protect the civil rights of a black baseball player whose life is being threatened. Though on the surface it looks like a typical case, we ultimately learn the secret of what set Arthur Dales on X-files like investigations so many years ago.
Last year, we saw how the Lone Gunmen got together for the first time, at a Computer Convention in Baltimore. Tonight, while in Las Vegas attempting to infiltrate a defense contractor's convention, the LoneGunMen discover that the woman, Susanne Modeski, who ostensibly brought the conspiracy group together and has been missing for ten years, is alive and well. The LoneGunmen bring Scully on the case by tricking her into coming to "Sin City." The group comes to believe that Susanne is a long-term victim of government brainwashing.
While investigating the strange, sudden appearance, in a field, of skeletons of a missing husband and wife, Scully and Mulder, form varying opinions about what they think has occurred. While Mulder feels strongly that this case resembles the cattle mutilations and alien abductions he has studied so thoroughly, Scully puts forth a more scientific explanation that a corrosive algae-like substance led to the couple's demise.Though their separate investigations at first seem to uncover strong evidence to support each theory, all hell breaks loose when Mulder suddenly disappears and Scully starts suffering from a series of headaches.
The season ending cliffhanger delves into all new mythology, along the way setting up themes and story lines that will play out all of next season. Only tangentially related to the alien conspiracy, the episode (to conclude at the beginning of Season Seven) will include many characters from previous shows but will not require the audience to have "Cliff's Notes" of seasons past.An ancient artifact is unearthed in West Africa. A biologist brings it to the U.S. to consult with another scientist who claims to have an almost identical piece. When both scientists disappear, Skinner puts Mulder and Scully on the case. Not surprisingly, Scully is convinced the objects are fake. Meanwhile, Mulder starts to hear voices in his head. Part one of two
